Concerts
Our Performances
We normally prepare two concerts annually, one in the early summer, and the other before Christmas. In recent years, these have been at the same venue as our rehearsals. Although capacity is limited to less than 200, we find the intimacy of the premises conducive to a close rapport with our audience. It means tickets for our concerts are always in demand!
Our soloists are invariably professional singers and instrumentalists.
We have organised an annual unrehearsed performance of Handel’s
Messiah for some years past, which is always a popular event for singers from a wide area. Workshops to study and sing a particular work are occasionally staged.
FORTHCOMING CONCERTS
Saturday 7th June 2008 7.30 p.m.
Our Summer Concert will feature two contrasting works. In classical style, Schubert's Mass in Ab (D.678) dates from 1822, and offers a range of this composer's melodious harmony. John Rutter's Magnificat (1990) is in a very different style, but is typical of his innovative choral writing. Professional soloists will lead the choir in both works. Tickets £8 (to include refreshments) will be available from choir members or by telephone 01732 864104 from six weeks prior.
Saturday 6th December (7 p.m.) is the date for our 2008 Christmas Concert.
