What does it cost?
The Society’s subscription year is September to August and the annual membership subscription is £80 (or something less than £3 per rehearsal!). For those joining after Christmas in any year, the subscription is £40 for the remainder of the subscription year. As a registered charity, subscriptions qualify for tax relief under Gift Aid, and we hope that all members who pay income tax will allow us to recover tax on payments made to the Society. The subscription income helps to pay our Director of Music and the use of the church for rehearsals and performances. At concerts, we expect ticket income to pay the costs of soloists, and we also have to pay performing and copyright fees. Other costs include printing, website, publicity and so on.
Social Events
We are a friendly lot! We enjoy an annual dinner in January as well as a garden party in the summer. Other events are organised from time to time – perhaps to visit a concert or workshop elsewhere. There’s life apart from singing!
